Frequently Asked Questions

  • My office is at 2428 Dwight Way, Suite 9, in Berkeley, CA. I see clients here in person, and online anywhere in California. The office is by appointment only, but I'm happy to take your call if I'm not with a client.

  • Online sessions happen over a secure, private video platform, you just need a quiet space, a stable connection, and a phone, tablet, or computer. I also offer phone sessions, which some people find easier and more relaxed than being on camera. Since I'm licensed in California, I can work with clients online or by phone anywhere in the state, and many people like mixing these with in-person visits depending on the week.

  • Yes. For some people, talking side by side while walking outdoors feels more natural and less intense than sitting face to face, and the movement itself can help. Walk-and-talk sessions happen outdoors in the East Bay, so we'd talk through how to handle privacy in a public setting and make sure it's a good fit for what you're working on.

  • Sessions are $230 for individuals and $250 for couples per 50-minute appointment. I keep a limited number of sliding-scale spots, so it's worth asking if cost is a barrier.

If your employer offers Lyra or Modern Health, you may be able to see me using that benefit, just reach out and I'll walk you through it. Otherwise, I don't bill insurance directly, but I can give you a superbill, a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

  • If you're looking for support and want to talk things out while I just listen and hold space for you, I'm happy to do that, or we can jump in and talk about goals and changes right away if that's where you're at. There's no pressure to tell your whole story at once, we go at your pace. Before that, I offer a free 15–20 minute phone consultation so you can get a feel for whether we're a good fit.

  • That's up to you, and it varies. Some people come for focused, shorter-term work on a specific issue; others prefer longer-term, deeper support. We'll talk openly about what you're hoping for and check in on how it's going, so therapy lasts as long as it's useful to you.

  • In the vast majority of cases, what you share stays between us. There are a few legal and ethical limits to confidentiality, mostly around serious safety concerns, and I'll explain them clearly up front.
