~ "Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional." ~

We all face challenges, but we don't have to go through them alone. Whether you want to get support around new changes in your life that are causing you pain and worry, or work through problems that have been with you for years, talking to a therapist can help you feel relief, feel empowered, and adjust to the things that are out of your control.

I am a Licensed Psychotherapist working with adults, late teens (16+), and couples in the East Bay. I take an open, non-judgmental approach to working with my clients. I enjoy working with people of any race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, gender identification, sexual orientation, and political leaning. I have several years of experience and training in helping people cope with a wide variety of issues, such as:

  • Overall stress in life, the workplace, or family

  • Alcohol and other substance use

  • Chronic pain

  • Depression

  • Grief and loss

  • Anxiety

  • Relationship problems

  • Regulating emotions

  • Anger management

  • Adjustment to traumatic events

  • Aging/Older Adults

  • Gender identity, sexual identity, and cultural identity

  • Chronic illness and terminal conditions

  • Life transitions

  • Veteran’s issues

Whether you just want to talk to someone who will listen to you and make you feel understood, or if you want homework and skills-based counseling, I’ll work with you in the way that you prefer. In addition to traditional talk therapy, I have several years of experience in traditional talk therapy, and have received advanced training in specific modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Harm Reduction, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Seeking Safety, Mindfulness, and Crisis Counseling.

I currently only offer video or phone appointments because of issues around covid, but I’ve found that video appointments are virtually (no pun intended…maybe) the same as meeting in person as long as your internet connection is good. When we can meet in person again, I look forward to either seeing you in my Berkeley office or still over video, with the potential to coordinate nature therapy appointments on a case-by-case basis. Call me for a free 15-20 minute phone consultation.
